About the role
The position is for a Software Engineer on the C2BMC program. The candidate will be responsible for Java software development for the Systems Architecture (Sys-Ar) of the Regional Applications teams in Huntsville, AL.
Responsibilities
- Provides experience across multiple systems and software disciplines, as well as general knowledge of related disciplines, applications, implications, and customer areas
- Analyzes and provides technical support for systems software products, including complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, operational integration, and user support
- Maintains currency, debugs, and configures related software products
- Develops or modifies operating system applications from specifications
- Aids in the design, coding, benchmark testing, debugging, and documentation of programs
- Interfaces with other system support groups to resolve issues, set standards, and improve the operating system's overall efficiency
- Works on most phases of software systems programming applications and may require minor instruction and guidance in other phases
Requirements
- Current, active DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (such as Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CySA+, CND, etc.)
- Current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application
- Java/J2EE experience or equivalent OO development experience (additional C++ experience also desired)
- Knowledge of software practices such as coding standards, automated testing, automated build pipelines, and configuration management
- Oral, written, and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
- Understanding of standard systems engineering design artifacts such as Use Cases and SysML diagrams
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, along with 2 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in a related field with 0 years of relevant work experience; or 6 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree
- Knowledge of Agile development methodologies
- Experience developing enterprise applications on Linux (Windows experience also desired)
- Knowledge of DevSecOps and/or build management
- Familiarity with common software development and management tools such as Maven, Git/GitHub, Nexus, and Eclipse
