Software Engineer Principal

About the Role

Applies knowledge of Pathward’s technical stack to develop solutions as part of a team. Responsibilities include design, development, testing, and documentation of software, with a focus on flexible, maintainable solutions that adhere to guidelines, requirements, and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Develops flexible, maintainable solutions using established guidelines, requirements, and best practices.
• Solves development problems through good design and practical experience.
• Reviews, modifies, enhances, and maintains existing systems by fixing issues, remediating security vulnerabilities, and improving performance.
• Participates in planning and user story analysis by providing feedback and demonstrating an understanding of user requirements.
• Implements technical solutions to solve business problems based on solid design principles and best practices.
• Actively follows software development processes and procedures.
• Documents software changes, best practices, and standards.
• Stays current with tools, technology, programming best practices, and industry standards through training and development.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent education and work experience.
• 8+ years of experience in a professional technical environment.
• 6+ years of professional software design and development experience.
• General knowledge of the software development lifecycle, preferably Agile/Lean or Kanban.
• Experience with the following technologies (not all required): .NET, C#, ASP.NET, MVC, Classic ASP, VB Script, Entity Framework, WPF, JavaScript, IIS, HTML, CSS, XML/XSLT, MSMQ, NServiceBus, Visual Studio, Team Foundation Server, Git, or other source control tools.
• Experience with Visual Studio, Azure DevOps, Git, or other source control tools preferred.
• Cloud development experience with Azure or AWS is a plus.
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to teach and mentor other software engineers.
• Ability to plan and prioritize for a team of developers.

Pay

Salary range: $104,000–$174,000. Individual pay within the range will be determined by factors including experience, qualifications, skills, and location. This role is also eligible for an annual performance-based incentive opportunity.
