Software Engineer - NC (Pref), TX, IA
Role Overview
In this role, you will participate in initiatives within Software Engineering, supporting the design, development, testing, and implementation of enterprise applications. The position involves hands-on development using Java, Python, Spring Boot, and modern front-end technologies while collaborating within Agile delivery teams. The ideal candidate will contribute to application development efforts, API design, and software modernization initiatives while supporting continuous improvement and quality engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and support software applications using Java, Python, and Spring Boot.
- Develop and maintain REST APIs and microservices.
- Build and enhance front-end applications using Angular and/or React.
- Work with MongoDB and other database technologies to support application needs.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application issues.
- Collaborate with developers, product owners, QA teams, and business stakeholders.
- Perform code reviews and contribute to best practices and coding standards.
- Support software testing and validation activities.
- Participate in application modernization and cloud enablement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 2+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work or consulting experience, training, military experience, or education.
- Technical Skills: Strong hands-on experience with Java, Python, and Angular.
- Experience developing APIs and Microservices using Spring Boot.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Working knowledge of MongoDB or similar database technologies.
- Understanding of software development lifecycle, testing, and debugging practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Cloud experience (Google Cloud, Azure, OpenShift, Kubernetes).
- Kafka or event-driven architecture experience.
- CI/CD and DevOps experience.
- Test automation experience (Selenium, Playwright, API Automation).
Work Environment
This position follows a hybrid model, with a flexible schedule of 2 days onsite and 3 days remote per week. The preferred location is Charlotte, NC, with secondary options in Irving, TX, or Des Moines, IA.

Pay
Hourly rate of $41 - $43/hour (OT40).
Schedule
24-month contract with strong preference for contract-to-hire conversion. Hybrid schedule: 2 days onsite / 3 days remote with flexible onsite scheduling.
