About the role

This position will focus on supporting the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS). The Boeing Missile Defense Programs support the Missile Defense Agency's (MDA) mission to develop and deploy a layered Missile Defense System to defend the United States, its deployed forces, allies, and friends from missile attacks in all phases of flight. This role may require access to an MDA facility, which involves a U.S. government background investigation.

Our teams are hiring for Associate, Experienced, and Senior Software Engineers to work on Java-based applications in support of the C2BMC applications.

Responsibilities

  • Work with industry partners as a key contributor to the design, development, and testing of Java-based applications.
  • Support the full software development lifecycle: generate design artifacts, implement software changes, conduct design and code reviews, perform software testing, and resolve issues.
  • Actively participate in agile planning and execution using established processes.
  • Develop software requirements and architecture for Missile Defense System (MDS) systems.
  • Select, tailor, and deploy integration and test processes, tools, and metrics.
  • Execute and document integration and test activities and events.
  • Mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
  • 2+ years of experience with backend development (Java, Spring, Oracle SQL, SQL Server).
  • 1+ years of experience in Unified Modeling Language (UML) or other software architecture and design modeling techniques.
  • 1+ years of experience with Agile software development lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 1+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor’s Degree and 6+ years of directly related work experience OR 10+ years of related, relevant experience.
  • 3+ or 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong understanding of software development principles including OOP, design patterns, and testing/debugging techniques.
  • Experience with Eclipse, Maven, Gradle, and/or microservices in software development.
  • Experience in software performance optimization.
  • Experience using automated unit testing frameworks.
  • Security+ or equivalent certification within 60 days of starting.
  • Missile defense domain experience (preferred but not required).
  • Knowledge of server-side development and message passing.
  • Command and control system application development experience.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to review performance issues, identify root causes, and recommend solutions.

Candidates will be required to complete a technical assessment as part of the selection process.

Pay

  • Associate level: $99,450 – $134,550
  • Experienced level: $126,650 – $171,350
  • Senior level: $160,650 – $217,350

Pay is based on candidate experience, qualifications, market, and business considerations.

This position is for 1st shift.
