Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Multi-Domain Operations, and Missile Defense Integration Business Unit has an exciting career opportunity for a Software Engineer – Level 5. The Staff Software Engineer will support a growing portfolio of programs and IRADs focused on missile defense, space, and intelligence. This role involves supporting various modeling, simulation, and analysis (MS&A) project teams performing software engineering tasks using languages like C++ and Python to support complex analysis of defense systems.
Responsibilities
- Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
- Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, and development of product software.
- Ensures software standards are met and meet customer requirements.
- Works on challenging and diverse assignments in collaborative settings across all levels.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 12 years of related work experience, or a Master's Degree and 10 years of related work experience, or 8 years of related work experience with a PhD.
- Current, active in-scope DoD-issued Top Secret security clearance at the time of application (required to start).
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs.
- Recent experience developing software in C/C++, Java, Python, or similar object-oriented languages.
- Experience performing test-driven development.
- Quick to learn and absorb new concepts and information.
- Experience with git configuration management tools and collaboration products like GitHub, BitBucket, or GitLab.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with user interface app development and front-end software.
- Experience with Software Change Control, Change Management, Code Quality, Static Analysis, and CI/CD tools such as: Atlassian tool suite, Jira, GitHub, GitLab, SonarQube, Coverity, and Jenkins.
- Advanced degree in Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science.
- Highly experienced with Linux, scripting, and operations.
- Experience implementing complex mathematical algorithms in code.
- Experience with automated software requirements testing and analysis.
- Experience developing software in a Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) environment.
Pay
Primary level salary range: $161,000.00 - $241,400.00. The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
