Software Engineer Lead

Role Overview A Software Engineer Lead specializing in Mainframe COBOL development is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and implementing COBOL-based applications on mainframe systems. Key Responsibilities Design, maintain, and troubleshoot mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM.Translate business requirements into technical specifications and perform system analysis, coding, testing, and documentation.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions and ensure application stability and performance.Participate in code reviews, adhere to coding standards, and stay updated on emerging mainframe technologies.Provide technical guidance, resolve production issues, and support complex problem resolution. Qualifications & Skills Minimum of a Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of relevant industry experience.Proficiency in operating systems like IBM z/OS, AIX, Linux, Windows.Expertise in mainframe technologies including COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, VSAM, TSO/ISPF, and related tools like Endevor, CA7, Control M, and BMC AMI DevX.Knowledge of relational databases such as DB2 and Oracle.Preferred experience with API development, Fiserv’s PEP+ ACH system, and financial services industry.
