Software Engineer IV

Overview

Byte Systems, a subsidiary of VTG, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer/Team Lead to join our diverse team at our Herndon, VA, office. The candidate will work within a cross‑functional Agile Scrum Team primarily focusing on building and maintaining systems running in a containerized environment. This position is 100% on‑site.

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience leading a team of 3‑5 engineers developing an application that runs in a containerized environment, ideally Kubernetes/OpenShift based.
• 2+ years of experience with software architecture/design.
• 2+ years of experience with Java.
• 2+ years of experience with Python.
• 2+ years of experience with SQL.
• 2+ years of experience with Shell Script.
• 4+ years of experience with Unix/Linux.
• Bachelor’s degree with 9 years of relevant experience OR a Master’s degree with 7 years of relevant experience; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree requirement.
• TS/SCI clearance with current CI polygraph to start.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years of experience with JavaScript.
• Security+ or equivalent certification and willingness to serve as a privileged user supporting deployed systems testing.
• Familiarity with NiFi.
• Experience with cross‑domain systems.

Pay

VTG’s estimated starting pay range is $180,000‑$230,000 annually, which is a general guideline for the geographic location. When extending an offer, VTG also considers work experience, education, skill level, market considerations and may possibly include contractual requirements which may cause an offer to fall outside of this range.
