Software Engineer Intern (TikTok-Growth-Customer Lifecycle) - 2026 Summer (BS/MS)
About the Role
TikTok's User Growth is a cross-functional department (engineering, data science, recommendation/algorithm, product, marketing, operations) that applies a data-driven approach to growth. We work closely to improve the whole TikTok user growth funnel: branding, acquisition, onboarding, engagement, and retention, across a variety of products.
The Innovative Growth Organization owns multiple product surfaces to serve the diverse content of TikTok to different users and usage scenarios, including TikTok Webapp (www.tiktok.com), Vehicle Infotainment Systems (Tesla), and TikTok Tablet apps. We are continually expanding to new surfaces. Together they form an important traffic matrix for TikTok to keep growing its user base and user consumption.
This is a 12-week internship opportunity starting in Summer 2026, designed to offer students industry exposure and hands-on experience. Internships at TikTok provide a vibrant blend of social events and development workshops, allowing you to utilize your knowledge in real-world scenarios while laying a strong foundation for personal and professional growth.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the conception, estimation, and prioritization of ideas, with data-driven product sense.
- Use full-stack technology (Node.js, React, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, Go, iOS/Android) to develop MVPs and run experiments to validate ideas and iterate quickly, leveraging new technologies and tools when needed.
- Work with product managers and data scientists to analyze product and user data, and iterate product based on data insights.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently pursuing an Undergraduate/Master degree in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Able to commit to working for 12 weeks during Summer 2026.
- Experience in developing consumer-facing applications through experimentation.
- Experience building metrics-driven experiments and using data to inform product decisions.
- Experience or desire to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams with design, product, data science, and recommendation systems/algorithm.
- Knowledge of at least one of the following tech areas:
- Web Platform: JavaScript, HTML, CSS, User Interface and User Experience guidelines and best practices.
- Native app platforms: iOS/Android development.
- Server and backend fundamentals: RESTful APIs, Microservices, NoSQL DB, RDBMS, Event Bus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Passion for delivering products end-to-end, from ideation to planning/scoping to implementation and experimental A/B testing, and launch decision.
- High levels of creativity and quick problem-solving capabilities.
Pay
The hourly rate range for this position is $45-$45.
