Software Engineer Intern (Payment) - 2027 Summer

About the role

The Payment team of U.S. Data Security department of TikTok provides payment solutions - including payment acquisitions, disbursements, transaction monitoring, payment method management, foreign exchange conversion, accounting, reconciliations, and so on - to ensure that users have a smooth and secure payment experience on TikTok platform. We are looking for talented individuals to join us for an internship. Our internship program offers students hands-on experience, industry exposure, and opportunities to apply their knowledge to real-world challenges while building a strong foundation for personal and professional growth. Interns will gain practical experience, explore potential career paths, and participate in social events, learning programs, and development workshops alongside industry professionals.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate innovative big data computing frameworks and storage systems to empower large-scale platform services.
• Design and optimize high-concurrency distributed systems to ensure stability during peak global traffic.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders to drive large-scale engineering initiatives.
• Drive technical innovation by integrating new ideas and emerging technologies into the core platform.
• Enhance system efficiency and scalability to support the rapid growth of the global payment ecosystem.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Able to commit to a 12-week internship during Summer 2027.
• Experience in programming, including but not limited to C, C++, Java, or Golang.
• Effective communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive.

Preferred Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience in AI coding is a plus.
• Strong learning ability, clear communication, and a strong sense of teamwork and responsibility.

Pay

The hourly rate range for this position in the selected city is $45‑$45 per hour. Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location.

Schedule

The company is shifting to a fully in‑person schedule up to 5 days a week. The internship is a 12‑week commitment during Summer 2027.
