Software Engineer Intern - Backend Focused - Winter 2027

Rippling’s Engineering team spans across all different types of work, from product development to platform enhancement. Our various product teams handle both directly user-facing products and interfaces for other engineering teams. Challenges range from building for usability to scaling for massive growth, and cover a wide array of engineering requirements.
Our platform engineering teams provide a layer of abstractions for every product team to build quickly and scale effortlessly. This enables Rippling to operate as a startup of startups. These teams are responsible for building the foundational software that powers the Rippling platform.
About the role
We are seeking an Engineering Intern to join one of our many teams in Winter 2027 (Middle of January-April) to develop robust, well-designed products, implement new updates and features, and solve complex problems that affect our business and our clients.
Responsibilities
- Tackle important projects, solving problems, and developing quality code
- Think critically and apply knowledge to real-world, complex problems
- Participate in team meetings to scope, drive, and progress projects
- Learn about the business, our clients' needs, and the impact of your team and related projects
- Attend Meet & Greets with various executives and teams to gain a holistic view of what it takes to run a company like Rippling
- Foster relationships with your intern cohort and teams through both exclusive internship social events and company/office-wide events
Requirements
- Previous internship/Co-op experience in software engineering utilizing Python
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in computer science or in a related field graduating after the internship's completion
- Excellent communication skills to work cross-functionally and across departments
- Solid programming skills with an emphasis on backend experience and knowledge
- Ability to adapt and ask action-oriented questions to progress
- Passion and drive to constantly learn and develop your engineering skills
