Software Engineer Intern (Ads) - 2027 Summer

About the team

TikTok USDS Ads team focuses on building and scaling the systems that power ads delivery, monetization, and user experience in the U.S. From improving ads performance and efficiency, to strengthening infrastructure reliability, to enabling global expansion, the team is focused on building a platform that is both high-performing and trusted. Our internship program offers students hands-on experience, industry exposure, and opportunities to apply their knowledge to real-world challenges while building a strong foundation for personal and professional growth. Interns will gain practical experience, explore potential career paths, and participate in social events, learning programs, and development workshops alongside industry professionals.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate innovative big data computing frameworks and storage systems to empower large-scale platform services.
• Design and optimize high-concurrency distributed systems to ensure stability during peak global traffic.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders to drive large-scale engineering initiatives.
• Drive technical innovation by integrating new ideas and emerging technologies into the core platform.
• Enhance system efficiency and scalability to support the rapid growth of the global Ads ecosystem.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Able to commit to a 12-week internship during Summer 2027.
• Experience in programming, including but not limited to the following programming languages: C, C++, Java, or Golang.
• Effective communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive.

Preferred Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience in AI coding is a plus.
• Strong learning ability, clear communication, and a strong sense of teamwork and responsibility.

Pay

The hourly rate range for this position in the selected city is $45–$45.

• Housing allowance for interns who are not working 100% remote.
