About Us

Cohere is the leading security-first enterprise AI company. We build cutting-edge foundation AI models and end-to-end products designed to solve real-world business problems. We train and deploy frontier models for enterprises building AI systems, believing our work is instrumental to the widespread adoption of AI. We obsess over what we build, with each team member contributing to increasing the capabilities of our models and the value they drive for customers.

Cohere is a global technology company headquartered in Toronto, with key offices in London, New York City, San Francisco, Montreal, Paris, Berlin, and Seoul.

About North

North is Cohere's cutting-edge AI workspace platform, designed to revolutionize how enterprises utilize AI. It offers a secure and customizable environment, allowing companies to deploy AI while maintaining control over sensitive data. North integrates seamlessly with existing workflows, providing a trusted platform that connects AI agents with workplace tools and applications.

About the Role

The Data Abstractions & Tools team inside North is responsible for how users bring their data into the platform and put it to work. We own the systems that let users upload, organize, and share files and knowledge bases, the framework for extending agents with skills and third-party integrations, and the data-sync pipeline connecting enterprise data sources to North's agents.

This role owns the integration pipeline end-to-end: adding new integrations to the platform, helping other engineers do the same, and becoming the owner of the process that makes it repeatable. You will also create evals and tests to ensure integrations work as expected and keep working as the platform evolves.

Responsibilities

  • Build new integrations (tools) on the North agentic platform and maintain existing ones.
  • Own the integration pipeline: the process for adding a new tool, from design to shipping to ongoing maintenance.
  • Help other engineers add integrations and raise the bar for how the team executes.
  • Create evals and tests to ensure integrations work as expected and alert on regressions.
  • Tune tool descriptions to improve performance based on feedback and evals.
  • Use AI actively in your work while staying accountable for the quality and reliability of what you ship.

Qualifications

  • You have shipped production code and are comfortable building integrations against external APIs.
  • You have a background in evaluating agentic systems (ideal) or, at minimum, know what an eval is and are comfortable with prompt engineering and tool-description tuning.
  • You excel in fast-paced environments and can execute while priorities shift.
  • You bring high agency: you learn quickly and drive change without waiting for perfect instructions.
  • You’ve owned things end-to-end before and care about the quality of what ships, not just that it shipped.
  • You enjoy helping other engineers succeed, not just shipping your own work.

Working Location

This role can be based remotely or from one of our office locations. There is no minimum in-office requirement, though time zone or working hours alignment may be expected depending on the role.

Pay

  • California, New York, and Washington States: $180,000 – $225,000
  • Elsewhere in the US: $150,000 – $190,000
  • Canada: $215,000 – $270,000

Benefits

  • A weekly lunch stipend of $75/£75 or equivalent in your local currency.
  • Full health and dental benefits, including a separate budget for mental health.
  • RRSP matching, 401K, or Pension Scheme.
  • 100% Parental Leave top-up for up to 6 months for either parent.
  • Annual enrichment benefits: Arts & culture, fitness/wellness, quality time, and a workspace improvement credit.
  • Education & learning stipend for conferences, courses, and coaching.
  • 6 weeks of paid vacation (30 working days).
  • Budget for traveling to other offices if remote, plus an annual company offsite.
  • For those in the office: daily lunch program, snacks, and regular community events.
  • For those remote: a co-working benefit and a $500 home office stipend.
