About the role

Bank of America is seeking a Software Engineer to develop and deliver complex requirements for our Healthcare Payments platform, the bank's first AWS-hosted in-production platform. This role supports an expanding, revenue-generating platform and involves designing, coding, and maintaining solutions that meet functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Code solutions and unit tests to meet defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements.
  • Design, develop, and modify architecture components, application interfaces, and solution enablers while maintaining architectural integrity.
  • Mentor software engineers and coach the team on Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI-CD) practices and automation tools.
  • Execute story refinement, define requirements, and estimate work for delivery throughout the lifecycle.
  • Perform spikes or proof-of-concept work to mitigate risks or implement new ideas.
  • Automate manual release activities.
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites (integration, regression, performance).

Requirements

  • At least 7+ years of experience in Software Engineering, including work in highly regulated environments.
  • Proficiency in C# and/or Java development, including Spring Boot and RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with Test-Driven Development tools such as JUnit and Mockito.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to break down requirements and find efficient solutions.
  • Experience building RESTful web services.
  • Hands-on knowledge of common RDBMS such as Oracle or SQL Server.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Git, and BitBucket.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for technical and business conversations.
  • Leadership qualities to collaborate with developers across multiple geographical locations.
  • Exposure to Agile methodologies and ability to work in a fast-paced Agile environment.

Desired Qualifications

  • Ruby/Rails, Kafka, or event-driven architectures.
  • Docker, cloud migration, and modernization experience.
  • Healthcare, payments, or financial services domain knowledge.
