About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer to join the AMRS Trading Engines team within Global Equities Cash Technology. This role involves building and evolving a world-class electronic trading platform that powers equity trading activity across global markets. You will work at the intersection of low-latency distributed systems, algorithmic trading, and high-performance software engineering, developing next-generation trading capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Code solutions and unit tests to deliver requirements/stories per defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements.
• Design, develop, and modify architecture components, application interfaces, and solution enablers while maintaining principal architecture integrity.
• Mentor other software engineers and coach the team on Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI-CD) practices and automating tool stacks.
• Execute story refinement, define requirements, and estimate work necessary to realize a story through the delivery lifecycle.
• Perform spikes/proofs of concept to mitigate risk or implement new ideas.
• Automate manual release activities.
• Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites (integration, regression, performance).
• Build core components of our Algorithmic Trading Platform, Smart Order Router (SOR), and Matching Engine ecosystem.
• Develop highly performant, resilient, and scalable solutions that directly impact execution quality for institutional and internal clients.
• Partner closely with trading, quantitative, and technology teams to transform complex business requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Drive architecture, design, implementation, testing, and operational excellence across the software development lifecycle.
• Enhance and optimize the firm’s high-performance trading framework and core infrastructure components.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Extensive experience building high-performance applications in Java on Linux.
• Strong hands-on experience developing electronic trading or other latency-sensitive financial systems.
• Solid understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, and performance optimization.
• Automation-first mindset with strong knowledge of CI/CD, automated testing, and shift-left quality practices.
• Experience working within Agile development environments and modern engineering workflows.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Desired: 2+ years of relevant work experience in Equities market structure, electronic trading, smart order routing, or algorithmic execution.
• Desired: Proficiency in C++ and performance-sensitive system development.
• Desired: Experience with low-latency networking, exchange protocols, market data systems, and trading infrastructure.
• Desired: Practical experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools.
• Desired: Experience designing and deploying applications in cloud-native and containerized environments.
