About the role
Join the CFR (Convenience-Fuel-Retail) Division of NCR VOYIX as a Software Engineer III, working on market-leading payments and loyalty software products that connect with leading payment networks, card brands, and devices. In this senior role, you will design and implement new features, modify existing ones, and collaborate with a team of seasoned developers in an Agile environment. Responsibilities
- Design and implement new product features and modifications to existing features, including technical documentation.
- Build and execute unit tests for new or existing application code.
- Work with the Customer Care team to resolve issues with released software.
- Maintain a high commitment to quality, software engineering best practices, and protection of sensitive consumer information.
- Provide input into release management decisions and drive issues to effective resolution.
- Mentor team members and conduct code and test reviews.
- Participate in an Agile development team, implementing user stories with automated testing to verify acceptance criteria.
- Analyze, design, test, and review software solutions.
- Provide effort estimations based on requirements.
- Write product specifications, designs, and technical manuals.
- Evaluate third-party products and specifications.
- Make design and development decisions using experience and knowledge of the environment.
- Provide feedback for peer performance reviews.
- Educate technical and non-technical stakeholders on areas of expertise.
- Provide development-level support for assigned products and projects throughout the lifecycle.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Services, Management Information Services, or equivalent industry experience.
- Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming concepts.
- 5+ years of C++ experience on a Windows environment.
- Experience with modern C++ standards (C++ 11 and above).
- 3+ years of Python experience.
- Experience leading or managing a team.
- Experience producing technical designs for software applications.
- Strong decision-making judgment and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Experience troubleshooting complex systems, including hardware and software.
- Test automation experience using Cucumber, Behave, Gherkin, or similar frameworks.
- Unit testing framework experience (e.g., Google Test, cppUnit).
- Networking and TCP/IP socket-level communications experience.
- Experience mentoring others on software engineering standards and emerging best practices.
- Agile development experience.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with the Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Confluence, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
- Java or .NET experience.
- Retail experience, especially in the Convenience Store industry and Point of Sale systems.
- Experience with payment processors and payment devices.
- Cloud development experience.
- Computer hardware, networking, and TCP/IP socket-level communications experience.
- Experience with high-volume, high-availability solutions.
- Knowledge of PCI compliance, secure development, and data encryption techniques.
