About the role

The Equities Cash Technology (ECT) team supports the Electronic Trading and High Touch business in Global Markets. The team provides innovative solutions for low-touch trading, including FIX connectivity, low-latency client and market connectivity, order management, post-trade reporting, smart order routing, algorithmic trading, and internal crossing. The team operates globally with a strong presence in AMRS, EMEA, and APAC.

This role requires a strategic mindset, an ability to understand technology development, transformation, and change management at scale. It demands a strong customer service mindset to support our growing equities trading franchise and the ability to leverage data for transparent management, risk identification, and consistent delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Code solutions and unit tests to deliver requirements/stories per defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements.
  • Utilize multiple architectural components (data, application, business) in the design and development of client requirements.
  • Perform Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI-CD) activities.
  • Contribute to story refinement and definition of requirements.
  • Participate in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle.
  • Contribute to existing test suites (integration, regression, performance), analyze test reports, identify issues/errors, and triage the underlying cause.
  • Perform spikes/proofs of concept to mitigate risk or implement new ideas.
  • Design and develop complex requirements to accomplish business goals.
  • Ensure software meets functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements.
  • Design solutions with maintainability, ease of integration, and testing in mind from the outset.

Requirements

  • In-depth understanding of core Java APIs (collections, concurrency, NIO).
  • Extensive experience with multithreaded systems, Java garbage collector, and low-latency I/O.
  • Automation-first mindset across the software development lifecycle, particularly shift-left testing.
  • Practical experience in an Electronic Trading environment within an investment bank or similar.
  • Familiarity with test-driven development, UML, and OO design.
  • Experience with Eclipse/IntelliJ, Jenkins, Git, TeamCity, Gradle, and continuous build servers.
  • Knowledge of FIX protocol (heart-beating, login, sequence numbers, message types).
  • In-depth experience with sockets and network connectivity.
  • Demonstrable experience in front-office system design and architecture.
  • Ability to work with and mentor junior team members, as well as take technical direction from team leads.
  • Experience with Order Management systems, including analytics.
  • Knowledge of architecting applications for Cloud and/or Containerized Environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Agile and test-driven development.
  • Strong proficiency in development and testing practices common to the industry, with extensive experience using design and architectural patterns.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience (desired).
