About the Role

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Software Engineer II for our Military Avionics Flight Management department in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. You’ll work in an AGILE environment (teams of 6-10) designing and developing flight-management software for military helicopters and aircraft. The role may require occasional overtime and up to 10% domestic/international travel.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test software features for flight-management systems integrated into military aircraft.
  • Collaborate with Systems and Software engineers to deliver quality products on time.
  • Develop soft skills—leadership, communication, coordination, and proactiveness—in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

You Must Have:

  • A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and at least 2 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience with C, C++, DOORS, ADA, and/or Python.
  • 2+ years of experience in a software engineering role.

We Prefer:

  • Industry experience with the full software lifecycle (design, requirements, integration, test).
  • Pilot/avionics experience (e.g., Private Pilot license, aircraft maintenance, DO-178 certification).
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance if required.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $68,900 – $131,100 USD, depending on experience, location, and other factors. Eligible employees may also participate in annual short-term/long-term incentive programs.
