Software Engineer II
About the role
This Software Engineering role is within Textron System’s Uncrewed Land and Air Systems division. Our team is engaged in multiple cutting-edge development programs for defense applications. A strong candidate will possess a solid knowledge base in software development and design best practices. In This Role, You Will Be Responsible For Providing engineering support on both current and next generation technologies in support of our family of uncrewed ground and air products.
Responsibilities
- Providing engineering support on both current and next generation technologies in support of our family of uncrewed ground and air products
- Participating in software development of new products across all phases of the product lifecycle from concept development to lab and offsite integration and evaluation
- Required: C/C programming experience
- Required: Experience using Unix based operating systems
- Required: Basic shell scripting experience
- Required: Knowledgeable of Object-Oriented Analysis (OOA)/Object-Oriented Design (OOD)
- Required: Experience using configuration management tools such as Git or Mercurial
- Required: Traveling up to 15% of the time
- Preferred: Experience integrating or designing autonomous solutions for land and/or air platforms
- Preferred: Experience with MicroPilot’s autopilot software
- Preferred: Experience with MOOS DB/IvP
- Preferred: Experience with Qt projects/libraries
- Preferred: Experience with OpenDDS
- Preferred: Experience with containerization platforms such as Docker
- Preferred: Experience with Network/Serial/CAN interface development
- Preferred: Experience frontend technologies including (but not limited to) CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, REST API, databases (SQL or NoSQL), and web UI design
- Preferred: Experience with automation build servers such as Jenkins
- Preferred: Experience with workflow management tools such as Jira
- Preferred: Experience with static code analysis tools such as Coverity
- Preferred: Experience developing MCP Servers and MCP Tools for use with LMMs
- Preferred: Experience with AI software development and workflow tools
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or computer engineering or related field required with 2 years of experience or master’s degree in computer science or computer engineering or related field in addition to the following skills/experience

Pay
The pay range should be used as a general guide only. Compensation is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. In compliance with the local pay transparency law, the pay range for this position is $88,200 - $133,000 per year.
