About the Role

The Software organization at RTX develops software applications for missiles, launchers, radars, naval systems, fire control, and other complex systems. This position is within the Effectors Center of the Software Engineering Directorate, focusing on real-time embedded software, application software, and tools. You will join a fast-paced agile team working on cutting-edge technologies such as real-time systems design, digital signal processing, machine learning, autonomous systems, cybersecurity, and DevOps.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in requirements, design, development, and testing of real-time embedded software, application software, and tools.
  • Design, code, test, integrate, and document software solutions.
  • Participate in internal reviews of software components and systems.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other engineering professionals.
  • Work on problems with defined scope, schedule, and expectations.
  • Maintain configuration management of software products following established development practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM major (obtained by start date).
  • Experience with C, C++, or other object-oriented programming languages.
  • Experience with hardware-software integration and embedded system testing (may be obtained through coursework, projects, or on-the-job experience).
  • Active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance (Secret) required prior to start date; ability to obtain interim clearance is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior internship experience.
  • Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
  • Knowledge of object-oriented design and Unified Modeling Language (UML).
  • Experience writing low-level code for microcontrollers, Arduino, or Raspberry Pi.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • ABET-accredited degree.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $57,200 – $108,800 USD. The range is representative of all experience levels and considers factors such as role, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
