About the Role

Collins Aerospace, a leader in technologically advanced and intelligent solutions for the global aerospace and defense industry, is seeking a qualified Software Engineer to support the Joint Precision Approach and Landing System (JPALS) program. This early-career position focuses on developing solutions for GPS Navigation Systems in a highly technical, agile environment. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, develop C code in a multithreaded environment and/or Java programming, and support integration and test activities. The role offers opportunities to gain technical experience, mentorship, and exposure to influential individuals within Mission Systems.

Responsibilities

  • Work on multiple tasks in support of software development within an agile environment.
  • Develop C code in a multithreaded environment and/or Java programming.
  • Improve code quality through code reviews and adherence to good software practices.
  • Support integration and verification within an automated test framework.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams to deliver unified solutions.
  • Perform data analysis and problem-solving, including anomaly investigation.
  • Eventually provide guidance, coaching, and training to other employees within your job area.

Qualifications

You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM), or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
  • Understanding of basic software development principles, including configuration control, collaborative development, and formal processes.
  • Experience in C software and/or Java.
  • Proficient written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience working well in teams and multitasking.
  • Demonstrable computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. government-issued security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).

We Prefer:

  • Experience with real-time multithreading, memory management, and performance optimization.
  • Experience in software collaboration environments and secure coding practices.
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing.
  • Experience with Simulink Test, requirements traceability, scripting, VxWorks, or VectorCAST (not required but desired).
  • Experience with development of solutions for GPS Navigation Systems.
  • Experience with Hardware and Software Integration, Validation & Verification Testing, and Qualification Testing.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $62,900 – $119,700 USD. The range is a good-faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs, depending on the level of the position and whether it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments are not guaranteed and depend on individual, business unit, and company performance.
