Software Engineer I - Core Compute Platform

About the role

The Platform Engineer will play a central role in the design, development, and maintenance of StubHub's end-to-end Compute Platform. They will support the evolution of the platform to facilitate rapid iteration and development driven by AI and Agentic development workflows, boost engineering efficiency and productivity, simplify platform interfaces and abstractions, collaborate with senior engineers, enhance platform performance and reliability, champion high standards of quality and efficiency, contribute to technical initiatives, and foster a positive, inclusive team culture.

Responsibilities

• Support the evolution of our core compute platform, primarily EKS in AWS, to facilitate rapid iteration and development driven by AI and Agentic development workflows.
• Boost engineering efficiency and productivity by designing and building powerful, reusable tools, including high-leverage SDKs, services, and shared packages.
• Create intuitive platform interfaces and abstractions that simplify underlying complexity.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to assist engineering teams and identify technical improvements.
• Aid in initiatives to enhance platform performance and reliability by contributing to automation and tooling.
• Promote high standards of quality and efficiency by enforcing software development best practices across the organization.
• Contribute to technical initiatives in partnership with senior team members.
• Foster a positive, inclusive team culture where diverse perspectives are valued and drive technical innovation.

Requirements

• Professional Software Development: 0-2 years of software development experience, including internships demonstrating foundational knowledge.
• System Design & Optimization: Interest in learning to design and optimize distributed systems, with a focus on scalability and reliability.
• Core Programming Expertise: Experience developing robust, mission-critical systems using one or more general-purpose programming languages (e.g., Java, C#, Python, Go).
• Cloud Infrastructure & DevOps: Experience building and managing multi-tenant cloud infrastructure utilizing Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Crossplane.
• Impactful Problem Solving: Demonstrated experience in designing and developing solutions to complex problems that deliver significant business impact.
• System Ownership & Context: Understanding of how developed systems interact within the broader production environment, including a deep grasp of dependencies and platform primitives.
• Adaptability & Learning: Proven ability to quickly learn and adopt new coding languages, platforms, frameworks, and tools.
• Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication skills and a track record of effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• End-to-End Project Ownership: Demonstrated interest in participating in the project lifecycle, from implementation to production support.

Qualifications

Pay

The anticipated gross base pay range is $120,000 - $150,000 USD.
