Software Engineer, Full Stack (Agent Platform) at Sapiom
About the role
Sapiom is a $50M Series A platform building the "spine" for AI agents, providing the infrastructure needed for machines to act in the world. Backed by Dragonfly, Accel, and Anthropic, Sapiom unifies compute, identity, and spend controls into an operating system for the next generation of agentic products. Located in San Francisco, USA.
Why this role is remarkable: Join an elite team with deep infrastructure DNA; the founder previously led payments engineering at Shopify for five years and built autonomous agent companies. Work at the frontier of AI infrastructure with $50M in funding from premier investors including Accel, Dragonfly, Menlo Ventures, and Anthropic. Own mission-critical systems where being wrong is expensive, building the routing engine and ledger handling 270M+ consumption events for leading agentic companies.
Responsibilities
- Architect real-time routing systems that place model calls against latency and cost targets, enabling customers to run agents economically at scale.
- Develop high-fidelity metering and billing systems that reconcile millions of events, ensuring absolute correctness in both internal ledgers and customer-facing dashboards.
- Build the control plane for agent authority, designing credential-scoped permissions and hardening gateways to safely hand power to autonomous machine agents.
Requirements
- Has 4-7 years of professional experience owning production systems end-to-end, particularly in high-stakes environments like billing, payments, or financial ledgers.
- Demonstrates a mastery of designing for failure, with hands-on experience managing timeouts, retries, and idempotency in complex, high-traffic distributed systems.
- Possesses a true full-stack mindset, capable of building the sophisticated interfaces that sit on top of their own back-end infrastructure to provide user control.
