About the Role

This Software Engineer position focuses on ETL and Informatica work, involving the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology and framework. The role includes directing software system validation, testing methods, and programming initiatives while collaborating with clients and cross-functional departments to communicate project statuses and proposals.

Responsibilities

  • Develops code, analyzes, researches, and resolves system issues.
  • Participates in on-call production support rotation.
  • Supports, maintains, creates, and follows documented IT processes, standards, application documentation, and design/code reviews.
  • Collaborates with team members and business associates to understand requirements and identify application impacts.
  • Creates individual work plans, specifications, and programs with guidance using development procedures and standards.
  • Develops skillset in one tool and utilizes approved source control.
  • Establishes a basic understanding of the SDLC methodology and framework used by the team.
  • Demonstrates high standards of integrity, supporting the organization’s mission, values, and privacy policies.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.

Level II (in addition to Level I)

  • Participates in strategic discussions and decision-making.
  • Serves as a mentor in areas of technical expertise.
  • Provides input for creating and documenting organizational standards.
  • Develops skillset in a second programming language and one tool/platform.
  • Implements an intermediate understanding of the SDLC methodology and framework.
  • Develops understanding of one supported enterprise technology.

Level III (in addition to Level II)

  • Proactively identifies process and technical deficiencies, troubleshooting and offering solutions.
  • Identifies best practices and participates in creating organizational standards.
  • Progresses SDLC methodology and framework by demonstrating advanced understanding and application.
  • Provides intermediary understanding of one supported enterprise technology and develops basic understanding of another.

Level IV (in addition to Level III)

  • Assists with software and system design and architecture within the assigned portfolio.
  • Develops strategies to mitigate risk and translates them into action plans.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert in areas of technical expertise.
  • Drives creation of organizational standards and processes.
  • Demonstrates advanced understanding and application of SDLC methodology and framework.
  • Provides expertise in two supported enterprise technologies and develops basic understanding of another.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field (or 3 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree). Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of at least one programming language (e.g., C#/.NET, Java, SQL, C++, Python, Visual Basic, or JavaScript).
  • Basic understanding of one tool/platform (e.g., Informatica, CI/CD, Pega, Power BI, Cognos).
  • Basic knowledge of at least one operating system (e.g., Unix-Based or Windows).
  • Basic database experience.
  • Basic understanding of software testing and quality.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and partner with team members and leadership to understand user stories and identify application impacts.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Basic technical knowledge of security architecture principles, authentication, authorization, applied cryptography, data masking, encryption, and security vulnerabilities.
  • Basic understanding of OpenAPI Specification (OAS) and Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) vulnerabilities and risks.

Level II (in addition to Level I)

  • Intermediate knowledge of at least one programming language.
  • Intermediate experience with one tool/platform (e.g., Informatica, CI/CD, Pega, Power BI, Cognos).
  • Intermediate knowledge of at least one operating system.
  • Intermediate database experience.
  • Intermediate understanding of software testing and quality.
  • Intermediate knowledge of SDLC development methodologies.
  • Intermediate knowledge of source control processes and application.
  • Intermediate technical knowledge of security techniques, standards, and vulnerabilities.
  • Intermediate understanding of OAS and OWASP vulnerabilities and risks.

Level III (in addition to Level II)

  • Advanced knowledge of at least one programming language.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with one tool/platform (e.g., Informatica, CI/CD, Pega, Power BI, Cognos).
  • Advanced knowledge of at least one operating system.
  • Advanced database experience.
  • Advanced understanding of software testing and quality.
  • Advanced experience with SDLC methodology and framework.
  • Advanced knowledge of source control processes and application.
  • Advanced technical knowledge of security techniques, standards, and vulnerabilities.
  • Advanced understanding of OAS and OWASP vulnerabilities and risks.

Level IV (in addition to Level III)

  • Expert experience with one tool/platform (e.g., Informatica, CI/CD, Pega, Power BI, Cognos) or programming language.
  • Expert knowledge of at least one operating system.
  • Expert database experience and understanding of software quality.
  • Expert technical knowledge of security techniques, standards, and vulnerabilities.
  • Expert understanding of OAS and OWASP vulnerabilities and risks.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work prolonged periods sitting and/or standing at a workstation using a computer.
  • Ability to work while sitting/standing at a workstation for three or more hours at a time.
  • Ability to travel across the Health Plan service region for meetings and/or trainings as needed.
  • Ability to work in a home office for continuous periods for business continuity.

Pay

Compensation ranges by level:

  • Level I: $60,410 – $106,929
  • Level II: $71,880 – $129,384
  • Level III: $87,766 – $157,978
  • Level IV: $98,297 – $176,935

Actual salary will vary based on experience, knowledge, skills, education, and internal equity. The total rewards package includes group health/dental insurance, retirement plan, wellness program, paid time off, and holidays.
