About the role

As a Software Engineer – Embedded Automation at SEL, you will play a pivotal role in building, testing, and deploying firmware for critical power infrastructure. You will also design and implement cutting-edge Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) pipelines for embedded systems, ensuring the highest standards of performance and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and deploy embedded firmware for power system protection and control devices
  • Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines tailored to embedded system constraints and requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate software solutions into hardware platforms
  • Ensure robust, reliable, and secure firmware through rigorous testing and validation
  • Contribute to system-level architecture decisions that impact performance, scalability, and maintainability

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 3+ years of professional experience in embedded software development (C/C++ preferred)
  • Experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines for embedded systems
  • Strong understanding of real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded Linux
  • Familiarity with hardware debugging tools (e.g., JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers)
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows

Qualifications

  • Experience with power system protection, automation, or related embedded domains
  • Knowledge of communication protocols (e.g., IEC 61850, Modbus, DNP3)
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation and tooling
  • Understanding of cybersecurity best practices for embedded systems
