Software Engineer - Embedded 4 (contract)

About the role

Leads the design, development, test, debugging and maintenance of software that is integrated into embedded devices and systems and meets industry, customer, safety and regulation standards.

Leads review, analyses, and translation of customer requirements into the design of software products for embedded devices and systems.

Reviews code for embedded systems software to run on specific specialized hardware.

Leads integration of embedded software with hardware components.

Leads analyses, monitoring and improvement of the efficiency and stability of embedded software systems.

Leads testing and debugging of software for embedded devices and systems.

Researches and leads implementation of current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and changes in regulations relevant to software development and hardware technologies.

Advises on software and hardware integration domains.

Leads tracking and evaluation of internal and supplier software team performance to ensure product and process compliance to project plans and industry standards.

Leads embedded software project management functions.

Responsibilities

• Develops and deploys C++ software for embedded applications.
• Works independently and collaboratively on Agile teams.
• Works with CI/CD software build pipelines and DevOps/DevSecOps tools like Jira, GitLab, Ansible, and Artifactory.
• Uses RHEL 9, Microservices, Docker/POD, Kubernetes, CMake, Git, and Cameo (UML, SysML).
• Performs automated testing using tools like Google Test, Cucumber, Coverity, and SonarQube.
• Monitors and improves the efficiency and stability of embedded software systems.
• Tests and debugs software for embedded devices and systems.
• Implements current and emerging technologies, tools, and regulatory changes relevant to software development and hardware technologies.
• Advises on software and hardware integration domains.
• Evaluates and tracks the performance of internal and supplier software teams to ensure compliance with project plans and industry standards.
• Manages embedded software projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or other technical degree.
• 9+ years’ experience developing and deploying C++ software for embedded applications.
• Hands-on experience or familiarity with Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) software build pipeline techniques and software factories such as DevOps & DevSecOps.

• Ability to work independently and in teams.
• Experience working on an Agile team in a collaborative environment.
• Experience with the following industry tools or software development techniques: RHEL, Microservice Containers (Docker/POD and Kubernetes), CMake, Git, CI/CD DevSecOps (Jira, Gitlab, Ansible, & Artifactory), Cameo (UML, SysML), Automated Testing, SAST, and DAST (Google Test, Cucumber, Coverity, and SonarQube).
