Software Engineer, Document Management

About the role
At Docusign, documents are central to everything we do. The Document Management team owns how documents are stored, processed, protected, and managed throughout their lifecycle at global scale. We are hiring a Software Engineer in Seattle to tackle hard, high-impact problems: Tier-0 services that many products depend on, large and growing data volumes, and the opportunity to shape AI-native approaches to documents. You will own ambiguous problems end-to-end and see your work make a difference quickly. This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Sr. Manager, Engineering.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate backend services that power documents at Docusign at global scale
- Own features end-to-end: design, implementation, deployment, and operations
- Contribute to the reliability, performance, and security of Tier-0 services that other teams depend on
- Apply AI-native development practices in how you build, and help build AI-powered capabilities on top of our documents
- Participate in design and code reviews with a focus on resilience and graceful failure, not just functionality
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues across environments, and improve alerting, dashboards, and operational runbooks
- Collaborate across teams and help raise the engineering bar
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production backend services
- Experience developing microservices with C#
- Experience operating high-availability services where uptime, security, and correctness are non-negotiable
- Experience with large-scale, distributed systems
- Experience owning and solving complex problems end-to-end
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating Tier-0 or mission-critical services at large, global scale
- AI-native development experience: using AI tools in your day-to-day workflow and/or building AI-powered product features
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure), microservices, and REST API design
- Experience with high data volumes, storage systems, or content/document processing
- Experience with observability tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and on-call operations
Schedule
Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. Minimum 2 days per week in-office; frequency may vary by team but will include a weekly in-office expectation.
Pay
Pay for this position is based on geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Washington: $146,400.00 - $206,775.00 base salary.
This role is also eligible for the following bonus:
- Sales personnel: variable incentive pay dependent on achievement of pre-established sales goals
- Non-Sales roles: company bonus plan calculated as a percentage of eligible wages and dependent on company performance
Stock: This role is eligible to receive Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
