About the Role
Piper Companies is seeking a Software Engineer to join a leading technology organization focused on network simulation, automation, and infrastructure platforms in a fully remote role working Eastern Standard Time. This position is ideal for a backend-focused engineer with a strong foundation in networking, distributed systems, Go development, and platform scalability.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain distributed backend services using Go and Python.
- Develop scalable platform capabilities that support high availability, low latency, and large-scale workloads.
- Implement and enhance CI/CD pipelines to improve software delivery, testing, and deployment automation.
- Build and maintain APIs, microservices, and platform integrations for networking and infrastructure solutions.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize telemetry, observability, and performance monitoring capabilities.
- Troubleshoot and improve system reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
- Contribute to architecture discussions focused on distributed computing, service orchestration, and network-aware applications.
- Support development efforts involving enterprise networking concepts, routing, switching, and TCP/IP technologies.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of software engineering experience in backend or platform development.
- Strong experience developing applications in Go (Golang).
- Proficiency with Python for automation, tooling, or backend services.
- Experience designing, building, and supporting distributed systems platforms.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals equivalent to CCNA-level knowledge, including TCP/IP, routing, switching, and network troubleshooting.
- Experience implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and software delivery processes.
- Knowledge of scalability, latency optimization, observability, telemetry, and performance engineering best practices.
- Experience working within Linux-based environments.
- Familiarity with cloud-native architectures, microservices, containers, or Kubernetes.
Pay
Salary range: $105,000 - $145,000 annually depending on experience.
