About the role
The Principal Cloud Software Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining advanced healthcare-focused applications that support clinical, research, and enterprise R&D initiatives within Jazz Pharmaceuticals. This role requires leading the development of secure, scalable, AI-enabled web applications and APIs within an AWS cloud environment. The ideal candidate will focus on product development, user experience, and delivering intelligent software solutions that meet the rigorous standards of healthcare environments. The position involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams including product managers, AI/ML/data engineering, IT/infrastructure, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into effective and innovative software solutions. Emphasis will be placed on integrating AI/ML capabilities, ensuring security, compliance with healthcare regulations, and supporting continuous delivery practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in full-stack web development using Python, Java, or C++.
- Strong proficiency with modern frontend frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
- Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and backend services.
- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services including EC2, Lambda, ECS/EKS, API Gateway, S3, CloudFront, CloudWatch, and IAM.
- Knowledge of healthcare security standards and regulatory requirements such as HIPAA and GDPR.
- Experience with AI/ML integration, model inference, and intelligent workflows.
- Familiarity with secure application design patterns, authentication, and authorization mechanisms.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain full-stack web applications supporting healthcare and research workflows.
- Build scalable backend services and APIs using Python frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
- Create responsive, intuitive, and secure user interfaces utilizing React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, and Tailwind.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to translate requirements into effective software solutions.
- Design and incorporate AI/ML capabilities into application features and workflows.
- Integrate AI services and machine learning models via APIs and service interfaces.
- Work within an AWS cloud environment to build secure, scalable, and compliant applications.
- Implement authentication, authorization, and secure data handling practices aligned with healthcare regulations.
- Develop system integrations using APIs, event-driven architectures, and secure communication protocols.
- Create and maintain automated testing suites for unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
- Support CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery workflows using tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or AWS CodePipeline.
- Monitor application performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize system stability and reliability.
- Participate in architecture and design reviews, providing insights on security, scalability, and AI integration.
- Document technical designs, operational procedures, and application behaviors.
- Ensure all solutions comply with healthcare privacy, security, and regulatory standards including HIPAA and GDPR.
- Mentor junior engineers, contribute to engineering standards, and promote best practices in coding and development.
