Software Engineer

Job seekers upload a resume once and PPLIED continuously matches and applies to real roles on their behalf, eliminating manual applications and cover letters. When a recruiter is interested, they connect directly with the candidate, enabling faster, more efficient hiring conversations.
About the role
This is a full-time hybrid Software Engineer role based in Seattle, WA, with flexibility for partial work from home. The Software Engineer will design, build, and maintain backend services that power the hands-free hiring platform, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
Responsibilities
- Implement new features, write clean and efficient code, and review peer code.
- Optimize services and APIs that support recruiters and job seekers.
- Collaborate closely with product managers and other engineers to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Troubleshoot production issues and contribute to architectural decisions.
- Participate in testing, documentation, and continuous improvement of development practices and tooling.
Requirements
- Strong foundation in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
- Proficiency in software development and programming, with experience building production-grade applications.
- Hands-on experience in back-end web development, working with APIs, services, and databases.
- Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts and their practical application.
- Experience with modern backend languages and frameworks (e.g., Python, Java, Node.js, or similar) and RESTful or GraphQL APIs.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and DevOps practices (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP; CI/CD pipelines; containerization) is beneficial.
- Ability to write maintainable, well-tested code and use version control systems such as Git.
- Effective communication skills, collaborative mindset, and ability to work in a hybrid environment with cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
