Software Engineer

About the role

At Light & Wonder, our Gaming team builds cutting-edge technology, products, and content for the most iconic casinos and operators across the globe. As a Software Engineer, you will work within a team to create and implement technology that supports internal products and drives customer-centric innovation.

Responsibilities

• Develop innovative features and functionality for Light & Wonder products, utilities, and tools alongside a global team of engineers.
• Research new technologies to modernize and elevate existing Light & Wonder products.
• Refactor, improve, and optimize the existing codebase.
• Design and build libraries that will be shared with other Light & Wonder products.
• Embrace best coding practices, including secure coding guidelines, test-driven development, and continuous integration workflows.
• Provide prompt resolution to bugs and issues using debugging skills.

Requirements

• Demonstrable knowledge of C# and C++.
• Understanding of client-server architecture basics.
• Demonstrable knowledge of object-oriented programming (OOP) concepts and principles.
• Familiarity with database architecture.
• High degree of comfort with software development tools such as IDEs, compilers, debuggers, profilers, and version control systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills, with an analytical mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrable knowledge of SQL query writing.
• Familiarity with web UI design.
• Knowledge of operating system basics.
• Experience with PowerShell.
• Familiarity with development tools such as Visual Studio, Perforce, Git, and Jira.

Gaming industry experience is preferred but not required.
