Software Engineer

About the role

Bring your specialist knowledge and experience to a company managing 50% of the world’s MIPS and play a critical role in our modernization mission. You’ll be part of a global community of experts leading the future of mainframe modernization, where knowledge is shared openly and collaboration is key. In this role, you’ll design, build, and maintain the high-volume business logic that runs on the mainframe while playing a key role in refactoring legacy code to enable modern cloud and mobile applications to seamlessly interact with core mainframe data.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the architecture and identify opportunities to optimize code to maintain and enhance mainframe performance.
• Debug, troubleshoot, and analyze complex system interactions to keep mission-critical applications running.
• Extract business logic from legacy systems for migration or integration with cloud-based services as part of modernization efforts.

Requirements

• Experience working as a software engineer on complex software projects.
• Excellent coding skills and solid development experience (Java, Python, .Net, etc.) with debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with software development methodologies and demonstrated ability to develop scalable and robust software.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, data mapping, XML/JSON, and REST-based web services.
• Knowledge of architecture design, including microservices architecture, containers (Docker & Kubernetes), and messaging queues.
• Deep understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) and design patterns.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Certification in one or more hyperscalers (Azure, AWS, and Google GCP) is preferred; otherwise, you can obtain certifications with Kyndryl.
• Experience with DevOps tools and modern engineering practices is a plus.

Pay

The compensation range for this position in the U.S. is $92,040 to $174,840 based on a full-time schedule. Actual compensation may vary depending on geography, job-related skills, and experience. For part-time roles, compensation will be adjusted appropriately. The pay or salary range will not be below any applicable state, city, or local minimum wage requirement.

• California (San Francisco Bay Area): $110,400 to $209,880
• California (All Other): $101,280 to $192,360
• Colorado: $92,040 to $174,840
• Massachusetts: $92,040 to $192,360
• New York City: $110,400 to $209,880
• Washington: $101,280 to $192,360
• Washington DC: $101,280 to $192,360

This position is eligible for Kyndryl’s discretionary annual bonus program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Kyndryl’s applicable plans. For sales commission-eligible roles, participation in a sales commission plan replaces the annual discretionary bonus program.
