Software Engineer, Android Platform, Google Beam
About the role
Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Our products need to handle information at massive scale, and extend well beyond web search. We're looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design and mobile; the list goes on and is growing every day.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software.
- Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
- Control device hardware peripherals and improve networking configurations for 3D video streaming.
- Manage platform startup stability and health monitoring systems.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, documentation, and triage processes to ensure high-quality software standards.
Requirements
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. 2 years of experience with android platform, systems, or application development. Experience with core operating systems (OS) concepts. Experience with networking protocols and configuration. Experience in software development with one or more general-purpose programming languages (e.g., Java, C++, Kotlin).
Preferred qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Experience shipping consumer electronics devices.
- Experience with low-level peripheral configuration and hardware-software integration.
- Experience with accessibility standards and implementation in android.
- Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and software design.

Pay
$147,000 - $211,000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits
