About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Android Software Engineer to become a vital part of our small, collaborative engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining mobile applications that integrate seamlessly with our cloud solutions, supporting in-field maintenance and configuration of our smart water meters. A primary focus will be on developing robust Bluetooth functionalities to ensure secure and efficient communication between our applications and hardware devices. You will work closely with cloud engineers, firmware engineers, and UI/UX designers to create responsive, visually polished user experiences tailored for field technicians and end-users. Your contributions will be instrumental in expanding our Device-as-a-Service (DaaS) and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) product offerings, while also supporting the transition from legacy mobile applications built on older frameworks. Qualifications Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or 5+ years of equivalent professional experienceMinimum of 5 years of experience in Android mobile application developmentProven ability to build responsive, user-friendly mobile applicationsHands-on experience with Agile/Scrum development environments, utilizing tools such as Atlassian or Azure DevOpsStrong knowledge of Kotlin programming language and modern Android development practicesExperience with Bluetooth integration on Android platformsFamiliarity with UI frameworks such as Jetpack Compose and Material Design 3Understanding of architectural patterns like MVVM, dependency injection with Hilt, and reactive programming with Flow/StateFlowExperience with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and backend integrationKnowledge of secure coding practices, testing methodologies, and code review processesAbility to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including UI/UX designers, product managers, and firmware engineers Responsibilities Lead the development and maintenance of Android mobile applications, owning the full lifecycle from concept through deploymentDrive Bluetooth integration efforts to enable secure and reliable communication with hardware devicesDevelop features that support hardware maintenance, configuration workflows, manufacturing, and commissioning processesCollaborate with cloud and firmware teams to ensure seamless platform integration and data synchronizationSupport the migration and maintenance of legacy applications built with .NET, MAUI, or UWP frameworksPartner with UI/UX designers and product teams to deliver pixel‑perfect, intuitive user interfacesImplement rigorous testing practices, conduct code reviews, and ensure adherence to security best practicesParticipate in planning, sprint reviews, and technical discussions to continuously improve application quality and performanceStay updated with the latest Android development trends, tools, and best practices to enhance application robustness Benefits Competitive salary range of $105,000 to $130,000 USDComprehensive health benefits including Medical, Dental, and Vision plans401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributionsPaid Time Off (PTO) to support work-life balanceOpportunities for professional growth and development in a cutting-edge technology environmentFlexible work arrangements, including remote work options within the Denver or Boulder Metro Areas, COA collaborative and innovative company culture focused on sustainability and impactful solutions Equal Opportunity Metron is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
