About the role
The DevOps Software Engineer will be part of a team responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining a comprehensive distributed Metrics and Monitoring solution for High Performance Computing (HPC) systems. This role ensures the reliability, performance, and scalability of HPC infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop distributed Metrics and Monitoring solutions for HPC systems
- Ensure the reliability, performance, and scalability of HPC infrastructure
- Automate manual processes using Linux CLI and Bash scripts
- Develop software using Python for data collection, message brokers, data storage, and presentation tools
- Interface with Log Management tools like Syslog-ng and rsyslog
- Familiarize with Message Brokers such as Kafka
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and automation tools like Ansible
- Follow Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) principles and methodologies using GitLab CI
- Manage source control using Git
- May require experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite (JIRA, Confluence)
- May require experience with Elasticsearch
Requirements
- Master's degree in computer science or related discipline from an accredited college or university, plus 3 years of experience as a SWE
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline from an accredited college or university, plus 5 years of experience as a SWE
- Seven (7) years of experience as a SWE
Qualifications
- Experience using the Linux CLI
- Experience using Linux tools and developing Bash scripts to automate manual processes
- Recent software development experience using Python
- Willingness to learn Splunk for data collection, message brokers, data storage, and presentation tools
- Familiarity interfacing with Log Management tools including Syslog-ng and rsyslog
- Familiarity with Message Brokers such as Kafka
- Experience with IaC (Infrastructure as Code) principles and automation tools including Ansible
- Experience with CI/CD principles, methodologies, and tools such as GitLab CI
- Experience with Git Source Control System
