About the role

Seeking a Software Engineer 2 to support its Connectivity/Telecom team in integrating new external vendors and internal systems for 5G eSIM management. This role will focus on defining technical requirements, creating user stories, coordinating software development activities, and planning and executing API integration testing. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Telecom, DevOps, Onboard Software, Backend Systems, Dealer System Portal teams, external vendors, and engineering teams in India to support the adoption of new eSIM capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain technical requirements, user stories, and functional specifications in Microsoft DevOps.
• Work with Telecom, Systems, and engineering teams to identify and define required REST API integrations.
• Review and understand APIs provided by external vendors.
• Coordinate software development activities and track progress through Microsoft DevOps.
• Schedule and conduct API testing sessions with external vendors and internal engineering teams.
• Develop and execute test scenarios to validate API integrations and eSIM functionality.
• Coordinate testing activities across multiple internal and external teams.
• Troubleshoot integration and API issues and work with technical teams to identify resolutions.
• Participate in status meetings and provide updates on development, testing, and integration activities.
• Help define efficient business and technical processes for leveraging new 5G eSIM technology.
• Support integration activities that automate vendor operations, commands, and status updates.
• Collaborate with engineers and technical experts across client and external vendor organizations.
• Assist with software development lifecycle activities from requirements through testing and delivery.

Requirements

• 2–4 years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or another technical discipline.
• Candidates with a 2-year technical degree and approximately 6 years of relevant experience may also be considered.
• Master's degree candidates with limited professional experience may be considered.
• Relevant internships may count toward experience.
• Experience with REST APIs, including writing, implementing, testing, or consuming APIs.
• Experience using Microsoft DevOps for requirements, user stories, task tracking, or project coordination.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and coordinate resolution with development teams.

Team & Project Overview

The Connectivity organization develops scalable connectivity solutions that enable seamless data flow between onboard and offboard systems. The organization supports IoT connectivity through technologies such as cellular, satellite, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. The Telecom team is expanding its vendor ecosystem and adopting a new eSIM strategy. This position will support the integration of client systems with new vendor platforms to automate activities, commands, and status management. The role will work with a team of approximately 10 people, primarily located in Illinois, with additional collaboration with engineering teams in India and external vendors.

Typical Day

• Schedule and coordinate API testing sessions with vendors and internal engineers.
• Review vendor API capabilities and documentation.
• Work with Telecom and Systems teams to define integration requirements.
• Create requirements, user stories, and tasks in Microsoft DevOps.
• Coordinate development and testing activities.
• Conduct API testing with vendor and Client engineering teams.
• Track project progress and participate in status meetings.
• Resolve technical questions by coordinating with appropriate subject-matter experts.
• Collaborate with teams across Client, including engineers in India.

Candidate Considerations: Candidates with experience as a Validation Engineer, Test Engineer, Software Test Engineer, API Test Engineer, Integration Engineer, or Software Engineer may be a strong fit if they possess the required API, testing, requirements, and DevOps experience.
