About the role

Prime Video is entering a new era where we aim to be the default entertainment hub for customers worldwide. As a Software Development Manager, you will grow the existing team, hire and develop software, quality, and data engineering leaders and engineers to build the next generation content and data platform. This high-visibility, high-growth role involves working with the Prime Video leadership team to develop systems and strategies used by Amazon worldwide, regularly interacting with senior leadership.

You will collaborate with engineering, business, and operations teams globally to define organization roadmaps, drive execution of technology projects, and manage technology operations. This role requires building, managing, and mentoring a high-performing engineering team while working in a high-volume environment, leading both strategically and tactically.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow a technical team, including their projects, performance, and career growth.
  • Collaborate with Product to renew and communicate a bold vision via roadmaps.
  • Clearly communicate priorities, decisions, risks, and solutions with your team, management, and principal stakeholders.
  • Work with peer managers to determine scope and estimate development effort.
  • Lead systems design, architecture, and scaling discussions.
  • Influence and adopt industry standards using data, conviction, and diplomacy.
  • Drive operational excellence initiatives and manage technology operations.
  • Dive deeply into business and technical domains to lead tactically day-to-day.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams.
  • 5+ years of leading development of applications backed by AWS services or other cloud-based technologies.
  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems.
  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and live-site operations.
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers.
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Experience managing a team of high-caliber Software Engineers developing complex, world-class, scalable software systems successfully delivered to customers.

Prime Video is a first-stop entertainment destination offering customers a vast collection of premium programming in one app available across thousands of devices. Prime members can customize their viewing experience and find their favorite movies, series, documentaries, and live sports—including Amazon MGM Studios-produced content, licensed fan favorites, and programming from add-on subscriptions such as Apple TV+, Max, Crunchyroll, and MGM+. All customers can rent or buy titles via the Prime Video Store or enjoy free content with ads.

Pay

USA, CA, Culver City - $184,900.00 - $250,200.00 USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
