About the role

Prime Video is entering a new era with a vision to become the default entertainment hub for customers worldwide. As a Software Development Manager, you will lead the next chapter of our journey by growing and mentoring a high-performing engineering team to build the next generation content and data platform. This high-visibility role involves collaborating with senior leadership, defining organization roadmaps, driving execution of technology projects, and ensuring operational excellence in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

You will work closely with engineering, business, and operations teams globally to shape systems and strategies used by Amazon worldwide. The role requires a customer-centric mindset, strong technical expertise in scalable systems, and exceptional leadership skills to drive both strategic and tactical outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow a technical team, including their projects, performance, and career development.
  • Collaborate with Product and peer leaders to define and communicate a bold vision via roadmaps.
  • Clearly articulate priorities, decisions, risks, and solutions to your team, management, and key stakeholders.
  • Lead systems design, architecture, and scaling discussions to deliver highly scalable solutions.
  • Influence and adopt industry standards using data, conviction, and diplomacy.
  • Drive operational excellence initiatives and manage technology operations in a high-volume environment.
  • Work with teams worldwide to estimate development effort and determine project scope.
  • Mentor and develop software, quality, and data engineering leaders and engineers.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams.
  • 5+ years of experience leading the development of applications using AWS or other cloud-based technologies.
  • 3+ years of experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems.
  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and live-site operations.
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams to collect requirements, describe software features, and define product strategy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring, and coaching teams of Software Engineers.
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Experience managing high-caliber Software Engineers developing complex, world-class, scalable software systems successfully delivered to customers.

Pay

Base salary range: $184,900 - $250,200 USD annually (Culver City, CA). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
