About the role
The AmSec Endpoint Security Capabilities and Prevention Engineering team builds and operates first and third party services for the monitoring and response to malicious activity on the Amazon internal devices. We collect data from all parts of Amazon's environment worldwide. We seek a Software Development Manager who is excited about leading a talented team to solve challenging problems by developing our own solutions, while operating a mission critical service that protects Amazon and our customer data.
Responsibilities
- Lead a group of engineers to operate services to the highest operational level while building new tools and services to improve the customer experience and make it easier/faster/cheaper for the customer to get what they need.
- Collaborate with product owners and customers to deliver the best features, using resources and technologies efficiently.
- Work with stakeholders to define solutions that scale and satisfy a wide variety of security needs.
- Assign responsibilities, identify appropriate resources, and build schedules to ensure timely completion of project milestones.
- Assess risks, anticipate bottlenecks, and balance business needs against technical constraints to maximize business benefit.
- Develop and maintain high-quality, scalable products that are deployed to our internal services around the world.
Requirements
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience, especially focused on end-point management.
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
Qualifications
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- 1+ years of providing technical leadership and project management for all aspects of the software development lifecycle experience
- 5+ years of Software Engineer, Software Developer, or related occupational experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
