Software Development Manager, CreativeX, Creative Intelligence and Optimization

About the role

The CreativeX RAPID (Real-time Ad Personalization & Insights Development) team is seeking a passionate and talented Machine Learning Engineer (MLE) to join us. CreativeX enables brands of all sizes to create, serve, measure, and optimize creative content with ease. The team tailors the visual experience of ads to each context in real‑time, leveraging technologies such as latent diffusion models, large language models (LLM), reinforcement learning (RL), computer vision, and related methods. Our mission is to provide engaging, dynamically optimized creatives with low latencies both on and off Amazon for self‑service brand advertisers, automating customization of product creatives with real‑time catalog data while giving advertisers flexibility to customize according to their preferences.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute project plans and delivery commitments.
• Manage the day‑to‑day activities of the engineering team within an Agile/Scrum environment.
• Manage departmental resources, staffing, mentoring, and enhance and maintain a best‑of‑class engineering team.
• Own operations of the service as a mission‑critical system.
• Work closely with engineers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach.
• Be a hands‑on technical leader and contributor.
• Report on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to management.

A day in the life

The product and engineering team partners with other Ads engineering teams on initiatives that have a big impact across Amazon Advertising. Responsibilities include defining the intake Order Management Process (workflow for building in‑house and third‑party creatives), providing CRM capability to Sales and Account Management, collaborating with Demand Side Platform (DSP) and Ad server for execution, supplying data for financial reporting and billing systems, integrating ad moderation capabilities at various phases, and detecting post‑execution ad issues.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
• 7+ years of engineering experience.
• 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi‑tier web services.
• 1+ years of providing technical leadership and project management for all aspects of the software development lifecycle.
• 1+ years of developing large‑scale, multi‑tiered distributed software systems using Java, C#, or C++.
• 1+ years of developing large‑scale, multi‑tiered distributed software systems using service‑oriented architecture.
• 1+ years of developing large‑scale, multi‑tiered distributed software systems using distributed programming.
• 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, Software Developer, or related occupational role.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations.
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.
• Experience recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and effectiveness.

Pay

USA, NY, New York – $203,400.00 – $275,200.00 USD annually
