Software Development Engineer, Kiro

About the role

The future of software development is agentic. AWS is building Kiro — a frontier AI coding agent that tackles development tasks end-to-end, retains context across complex workflows, and continuously learns from its work. Kiro is already transforming how developers build and maintain software, and we're just getting started. We're looking for engineers who want to shape this transformation.

Responsibilities

• Solve novel problems at the intersection of AI and software engineering
• Orchestrating AI workflows across dozens of models
• Building context systems that make every interaction smarter than the last
• Scaling AI infrastructure to meet AWS's exacting standards for reliability and security
• Ship features that directly improve how developers work
• From launching new models in hours, to building intelligent routing, to designing the context layer that makes Kiro genuinely understand your project
• Build the agent that builds the future

Requirements

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field

Skills

• Full software development life cycle experience (coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations)
