Software Development Engineer III, AWS Core Networking – Network Fabric Engineering, Core Networking - Edge Capacity

About the role

The Core Networking team is looking for a Software Development Engineer to join our Network Fabric Engineering (NFE) team. This role involves building software services to deploy and scale the Amazon networks that support AWS, customers, and other business units, across multiple global data centers.

Responsibilities

• Develop and launch extensive distributed systems in collaboration with a team.
• Deliver high quality, extensible design and code.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers.
• Manage customers during problem resolution and operate efficiently under pressure.
• Manage competing priorities and implement optimizations for performance, scalability, and efficiency.
• Communicate clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally, across organizations.

Requirements

• Production quality software services experience.
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
• Software engineering expertise, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Background in network engineering and troubleshooting network issues.
• Experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience.
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems experience.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
