About the role

Amazon’s Personalization organization is a high-performing group that leverages Amazon’s expertise in machine learning, big data, and distributed systems to deliver the best shopping experiences for our customers. We run hundreds of experiments each year and our work has revolutionized e-commerce with features such as “Customers Who Bought Also Bought” and “Recommended for You.” This team strives to help the organization deliver on these features with high quality and efficiency. We also provide the organization with tools to understand their features' performances. We care deeply about our customers, as well as the well-being and growth of our team members.

Key job responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable software solutions to process big data.
  • Collaborate with diverse stakeholders to envision, design, develop, and launch new and impactful software.
  • Utilize technology to solve complex problems.
  • Deliver high-quality code on schedule.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in diverse data structures and algorithms, making informed decisions on their appropriate usage.
  • Independently clarify technical requirements, estimate development timelines, and apply effective design approaches.
  • Conduct code reviews, offering constructive guidance to fellow team members.
  • Drive continuous improvement in software quality, customer experience, and product maintainability.
  • Mentor and lead developers, fostering curiosity and deep technical understanding.

Alexa, Kindle, and other Amazon devices rely on our team to deliver the best shopping experiences for our customers. We are looking for creative and innovative leaders with a similar penchant for deeply-technical problem solving and the ability to lead, mentor, and deliver while upholding Amazon’s leadership principles.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence
  • Knowledge of Machine Learning and LLM fundamentals, including transformer architecture, training/inference lifecycles, and optimization techniques

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Experience in developing and deploying LLMs in production on GPUs, Neuron, TPU or other AI acceleration hardware

Pay

$143,700.00 - $194,400.00 USD annually
