About the role

Amazon Vulnerability Management Services (AVMS) is seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer to join the Discovery Insights Foundry (DIF) team. You will build AI‑driven, executive‑level leadership reporting that gives senior leaders real‑time insight into the state of Vulnerability Management across AWS. The product will span interactive data visualization, data analytics pipelines, AI‑powered agent orchestration, Model Context Protocol (MCP) services, and team‑level operational integration, enabling both high‑level organizational views and drill‑down capability for leaders.

Key responsibilities

  • Architecture design and review for new and existing systems.
  • Software feature development in Java and Python using AWS services (S3, Lambda, SQS, Fargate/ECS, EMR, Spark, etc.).
  • Setting and achieving a high bar for operational excellence.
  • Building partnerships with technical internal Amazon stakeholders and earning trust in all directions.
  • World‑wide system resilience testing and preparation.
  • Software project planning using Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).

A day in the life

You will work at the intersection of software engineering, data analytics, and AI. On a typical day you might build a new visualization component for the leadership dashboard, develop an AI agent that automates a weekly status report, write a data pipeline that merges vulnerability metrics from multiple upstream systems, or design an MCP service that enables other teams to integrate with your reporting platform. You will partner closely with security engineers, data engineers, and program managers across AVMS to ensure leadership has a trusted, unified, and timely view of the organization’s vulnerability posture.
