Software Dev Engineer II, Amazon Security

About the role

At Amazon Web Services (AWS), our team is building a renewed set of Foundational Access Management capabilities for all of Amazon’s digital and physical resources. We are responsible for the protection of customer and corporate data while being connected to all parts of Amazon's business and its massive worldwide service-oriented architecture. As a Software Development Engineer, you will design and build a large-scale next-generation Authentication Management System with ample opportunity to innovate and deliver high-impact outcomes.

You will collaborate with the leadership team to drive key engineering and business decisions influencing the Amazon developer experience. Your contributions will span the entire software development and deployment lifecycle, including design, implementation, documentation, deployment, and operations across multiple products within the Amazon development community.

This position involves on-call responsibilities, typically for one week every two months. We prioritize fault-tolerant systems to minimize disruptions, and when issues arise, we work collaboratively to resolve root causes.

Responsibilities

• Design and build a large-scale next-generation Authentication Management System.
• Collaborate with leadership to drive engineering and business decisions impacting the Amazon developer experience.
• Contribute to all phases of the software development lifecycle, including design, implementation, documentation, deployment, and operations.
• Participate in on-call rotations to ensure system reliability and resolve issues.
• Work closely with peers in a team of talented engineers to solve complex business problems.

Requirements

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship experience in design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including object-oriented design, algorithms, data structures, and advanced systems concepts.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-driven with a track record of delivering high-impact results.
• Enjoyment of collaborative work within a team of talented engineers.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

Pay

The base salary range for this position in Seattle, WA is $143,700 - $194,400 USD annually. Your compensation package will also include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
