Key job responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable cloud services and features that power AWS's core infrastructure
  • Collaborate with product managers and senior engineers to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Write high-quality, efficient code while adhering to AWS's architectural best practices
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure quality, security, and performance standards
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across AWS services
  • Implement automated testing frameworks to ensure reliability and performance
  • Contribute to on-call rotations to support production systems
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance
  • Document system designs, APIs, and operational procedures
  • Continuously evaluate and improve existing systems for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends

AWS Utility Computing (UC) delivers innovative cloud services from foundational offerings like S3 and EC2 to industry leading products that distinguish AWS in the industry. UC team members support development of Compute, Database, Storage, IoT, Platform, and Productivity Apps services, including specialized security solutions.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Experience working effectively across cross-functional teams and partnering well with people at all levels within an organization
  • Experience working with customers, technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs
