The Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) Networking team is looking for software engineers who have a passion for diving deep while also being able to see the big picture. We are re-engineering our virtual networking control plane as part of Amazon's initiative to get EC2 performance to be as close as possible to that of bare metal. This role involves being part of the team that owns building, scaling, and maintaining high performance software to streamline the management of millions of Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) configurations.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable cloud services and features that power AWS's core infrastructure
- Collaborate with product managers and senior engineers to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Write high-quality, efficient code while adhering to AWS's architectural best practices
- Participate in code reviews to ensure quality, security, and performance standards
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across AWS services
- Implement automated testing frameworks to ensure reliability and performance
- Contribute to on-call rotations to support production systems
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance
- Document system designs, APIs, and operational procedures
- Continuously evaluate and improve existing systems for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends

Basic qualifications
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
Pay
USA, WA, Seattle - 143,700.00 - 194,400.00 USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
