Software Development Engineer, Device Club

About the role

Description Ring is seeking a Software Development Engineer to join the Device Guardians team. This role involves design, architecture, implementation, and operation of large-scale cloud systems.

Responsibilities

• Architect solutions that process real-time device events, trigger automated responses, and enable seamless device configuration experiences.
• Collaborate across Ring's software, firmware, and product organizations while working with AWS technologies to solve complex distributed systems challenges.
• Autonomously deliver the technical direction of core services and the feature roadmap.
• Leverage modern AI-powered development tools to accelerate development, improve code quality, and drive engineering productivity.
• Work with extraordinary talent and have the opportunity to hire and shape the team to best execute on the product.

Requirements

• Strong foundation in software development, design patterns, and cloud computing.
• Experience working with large-scale cloud systems, understanding how to architect and build them.
• Embraces AI-assisted development workflows, including coding agents, AI-powered code review, automated testing tools, and prompt engineering.
• Highly effective and thrives in a dynamic environment with multiple, changing priorities.
• Knows what is important when shipping products to customers and has been through the process from start to finish.
• Robust and maintainable code, clear documentation, and can deliver high quality work on tight schedules.
• Comfortable with proactive outward communication and technical leadership and never shies away from a challenge.
• Actively explores and adopts emerging AI tools and technologies to continuously improve engineering workflows and team productivity.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience.
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience.
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.

Pay

Base salary range: $143,700.00 - $194,400.00 USD annually
