About the role

The Conversational AI Modeling and Learning (CAMEL) team is seeking a passionate, talented, and inventive Software Development Engineer/Machine Learning Engineer to play a pivotal role in developing industry-leading, Generative AI (GenAI) powered conversational assistant capabilities. You will work with the latest techniques such as fine-tuning, In-Context Learning (ICL), and prompt optimization to advance conversational agents.

As part of the CAMEL team, you will lead the development of high-performance, low-latency modeling solutions that push the boundaries of conversational AI. Your work will directly impact customers through products and services leveraging multimodal Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI. You will influence our strategy by defining data enrichment, model optimizations, and evaluation practices, while driving system architecture and best practices for a quality infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Quickly learn and apply the latest technologies and algorithms in Generative AI to build cutting-edge conversational agents.
  • Develop and maintain key platforms for training, evaluating, and deploying large language models used in conversational agents.
  • Collaborate with team members to investigate design approaches, prototype new technology, and evaluate technical feasibility.
  • Work closely with Applied Scientists to process large-scale data, scale machine learning models, and optimize latency, cost, and capacity.
  • Deliver high-quality software in an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Define and implement system architecture and best practices for infrastructure quality.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 2+ years of non-internship experience in designing or architecting new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability, and scaling).
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

Pay

Base salary ranges:

  • USA, MA, Boston: $143,700 - $194,400 USD annually
  • USA, WA, Bellevue: $143,700 - $194,400 USD annually

Your compensation package will include sign-on payments, restricted stock units (RSUs), and comprehensive benefits such as health insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
