About the role

The Transport Libraries team within AWS Cryptography builds and maintains open-source TLS and QUIC libraries (s2n-tls, s2n-quic) that protect data in transit across all of AWS. We're looking for an experienced software developer passionate about practical cryptography, open source, and building at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full software development lifecycle — defining, prioritizing, designing, building, and testing new features for AWS Cryptography.
  • Deliver foundational cryptographic libraries integrated across all AWS front-door services.
  • Engage internal and external customers to identify gaps in data-in-transit protection and translate those into new features and products.
  • Build solutions at scale to protect cloud workloads against "harvest now, decrypt later" (HNDL) threats.
  • Leverage GenAI technologies to safely and efficiently transition AWS services to post-quantum cryptography.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
  • 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
  • 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field

Qualifications

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
