Software Development Engineer, Amazon Fuse

About the role

As a Software Development Engineer, you will work with a team of talented engineers to build low-latency solutions for frontend, middle tier, and backend, as well as identify and evaluate new technology options for the challenges we are trying to solve. You will work with a variety of core languages, microservices, and technologies including Java, DynamoDB, Lambda, SQS, SNS, and many other AWS services. We are looking for a smart engineer who can effectively deal with ambiguity and work independently to clarify requirements, build prototypes, and deliver results quickly.

About the team

The Fuse tech team is an innovative and high-energy team working on Amazon Fuse, a wholesale subscription service that enables third-party enterprises with billing and distribution capabilities. Fuse has created a one-stop integration point for service teams (e.g., Prime, Music, Video) to offer their subscription services through top global partners who collectively provide subscriber billing services to more than 4 billion consumers. While we use existing Amazon systems when possible, you’ll tackle challenging problems that require innovative solutions.

A team owns multiple product lines end-to-end. The right candidate will wear many hats and work in a highly collaborative, startup-like environment. Everyone on the team needs to be entrepreneurial and excited to work in a "green field."

Responsibilities

• Build low-latency solutions for frontend, middle tier, and backend systems.
• Identify and evaluate new technology options to solve business challenges.
• Work with core languages and AWS services such as Java, DynamoDB, Lambda, SQS, and SNS.
• Clarify requirements, build prototypes, and deliver results quickly in ambiguous environments.
• Own major deliverables across all aspects of development: scoping, design, implementation, and testing.
• Enable new external vendors on Amazon marketplaces.

Requirements

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

Pay

Base salary range: $143,700.00 – $194,400.00 USD annually (Seattle, WA). Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
